New year, new me? Nah, but here’s a review on the new Boots Good Gut range!

Do you have a daughter who at times struggles with loving her curls wholeheartedly?

I would definitely recommend this lovely little book called Curly Kids Rock 👌🏾

Written by Lemoy Majen, it’s full of simple affirmations even the youngest of children can relate to.

And the book, complete with joyfully bright illustrations by Ann Pomelova, is not just specifically about afro hair either 😊

It’s a big thing for me to make sure my daughter loves her hair and she told me that the words were ‘great to hear if I’m ever feeling down about myself’.

IF like me you have a daughter in primary school, then you’re no stranger to various unboxing toys such as LOL Dolls, Num Noms, Shopkins… (the list goes on).

But with the majority of these clearly aimed at girls, it was refreshing to be invited to an event where boys were being included in this growing trend of pocket money toys.

The launch of Teamsterz Micro Motorz took place at Westfield Stratford and was hosted by super car customiser Yianni Charalambous.

Both my son and my daughter tagged along as we joined Yianni for breakfast at Giraffe and at the same time introduced to the miniature unboxing toys.

The two of them – my daughter and my toddler son – were already fascinated by the car collectables in the short time we were there.

The Micro Motorz come with six surprises, including tuning accessories, stickers, a display capsule and there are 20 to collect, including the coveted rare styles.

The display capsule also acts as a launcher for the cars to race – it’s admittedly a bit fiddly to operate and my daughter had to ask me for help and watch the how to guide on YouTube.

It has to be noted that the toy is aimed at 3+, so while my 22 month old showed an interest in the cars, I had to make sure none of the smaller pieces were within his reach.

Our day ended with the chance to gawp at Yianni’s one of a kind £300k chrome wrapped Lamborghini Aventador!

I’m going to try and to be a bit more prepared for the next school holiday and think about things to do with the kids in advance, and not just leave it to the night before!
I’m lucky to have discovered 5 Minute Fun who come up with simple – and enjoyable! – ideas to keep little fingers busy and most importantly allowing you to grab five minutes to yourself.

It was great to see both my toddler and nine year working together to make a fabulous owl from the goody bag they kindly gifted us!

I’ve spoken before about how difficult it is to get them to enjoy the same activity, so this was a Godsend.

And the activity cards (only £1.99 atm!) could keep the whole family occupied for ages doing little fun tasks, in the house or outside, which don’t involve any extra cash being spent.

IF YOU have a child who loves to watch other kids on YouTube playing with toys, then you will understand how giddy with excitement my daughter was to attend the Cry Babies Magic Tears launch with her favourite YouTuber Tiana from Toys and Me (if you know, you know!).

She could hardly contain herself as we rocked up to the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green to preview the new range of blind box toys.

You can currently get up to 12 different animal-themed dolls, each with six little accessories, in the pastel coloured house shaped containers. Of course the key aspect being you never know which one you’re going to get. The key is to look out for the miniature dolls with the gold accessory.

While getting the chance to do her very own ‘unboxing’ of the new toys, my daughter joined other excited little ones to watch Tiana do a live unboxing of the range joined by Channel 5 Milkshake presenter Jen Pringle.

Each doll does what it says on the box – cries tears when you squeeze it’s belly after feeding it with water from a bottle – and keeps their attention with the six accessories it comes with.

Retailing at around £10 each, it’s going to be pretty expensive for the parents whose child decides they want to collect all 12 but the price also makes it an affordable gift for birthdays etc.

The toys are also accompanied by an animated series of the characters on YouTube.
