Little Bird by Jools Oliver at Mothercare – review
What’s that I hear you say? Another celebrity trying her hand at designing?
Well, yes – but in a good way. This time around the one doing the designing is Jools, the wife of celeb chef Jamie Oliver and as the mother of four kids, you’d hope she’d have a pretty idea of what makes for a good baby and toddler clothing range…
And thankfully she does, both myself and my two year old daughter instantly fell in love with the samples we were given to test out – a vivid yellow cardigan, some ribbed tights (one pink, one navy blue), a pink and purple striped top and a beautiful vintage style white shirt.
Jools follows in the footsteps of fellow celebrity mum Myleene Klass, who has also put her name to collections at the high street retailer, but if my memory serves me correctly the Little Bird range is slightly more affordable than Klass’ Baby K collection.
The pictured pink/purple top is about £8, the shirt £13. A cardigan from the range is about £15. There wasn’t a piece that I didn’t like, but my note with the tights would be that as my little one has been blessed with long legs, I’d probably go up a size from the age 2-3 I was given to try out.
The quality is that which you would expect from Mothercare, with words and phrases like ‘eclectic mix of traditional prints and vintage novelty’ and ‘a timeless look’ to describe the range for little ones aged up to five years, these elements have helped create a hit with customers, with pieces flying out of stores.
I’m sure Jools will be glad to hear that it’s also a thumbs up from The Media Mummy!
Fancy throwing shapes with the kids? Get down to Ladybird Live: Rhyme and Rave
What better way to spend time with your kids than getting down to some club classics at a bar in east London?
No, I’m completely serious here! To celebrate the relaunch of Random House children’s book brand Ladybird, they’ve teamed up with family party animals Raver Tots to present Ladybird Live: Rhyme and Rave.
I’m getting excited just writing about this and can’t wait to take my kids to the event at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen on Sunday May 19 from 2-4pm.
The afternoon will consist of theatrical storytelling from Ladybird’s brand new range, combined with a rave room hosted by club classics masters, Wideboys as the headline DJ act. Not to mention glow sticks, Ladybird themed face painting, CONFETTI CANNONS(!), giant parachutes, colouring and mini play areas, all in a family friendly venue.
How can you not want to go to this!!! Tickets are only £3 for adults and children are free, available for purchase from skiddle.com/e/13504079.
Keep an eye out for my review!

Myleene Klass: I’m still learning the ropes…
One look at Myleene Klass and you’re not faced with someone who appears to be struggling with parenthood. But welcoming guests to the Mothercare VIP Christmas party on Oxford Street the recently divorced mother-of-two admitted it wasn’t so easy being a working mum in the media…
‘My tip to working mums out there? Oh I don't know, sometimes I feel like I'm still learning the ropes!
'You just try to organise, make plans and then one thing like a child being sick can throw all of that out of the window.
'I guess my advice would be not to be too hard on yourself as a working mum - there's loads of other people out there doing that for you!
'I always say to anyone who looks down on me for being a working mum, 'Are you going to do this for me? Are you going to pay my mortgage?
'I may be out tonight, but I'll be up for the school run in the morning'.
And 35 year old Klass is as hardworking as they come – this year marks her eighth year designing her Baby K range for the high street retailer among other projects.
Hats off to her I say.
Boots announce partnership with Mothercare
BOOTS has announced its latest partnership with parents’ favourite Mothercare.
So what does that mean for us mummies and daddies? Basically you can now order a range of the high street retailer’s goods online at boots.com alongside your toiletries, as well as being able to buy some items in selected stores.
Also, if you don’t see what you need in store, simply make an order by 8pm (in store or online) and collect the next day by 12pm, or have Boots deliver it to your home. That’s a thumbs up from me!
